We drive across I70 into Utah – speed limit 80! Great drive, flat, relatively straight. Flanked by mountain ranges on each side. We take our southbound turn for Moab greeted with a sign warning of 15mph turns for the next 45 miles. It wasn’t so bad. The landscape though is unimproved by humans (not that there’s anything wrong with that). No structures or fences – an occasional side road to nowhere. As we near Moab, the mountains loom. A stop at the Visitor Center takes us to Arches National Park. A few hours of phenomenal erosion sculptures. So much variety in rock and stone. More vastness to beyond our sight lines. We drive on toward Cortez (AZ) but have to stop in Monticello (UT) – too weary.
