Since there was no lodging in Page or Cameron, we head directly to Williams (AZ) so we are positioned for our train ride to the Grand Canyon. Great highway travel again, passing cars at 95mph. Diverse mountain formations to the left and right. Scattered mobile homesteads with the required Hogan on the edge of the property. More settled than we’ve seen in days, yet quite sparse. A smattering of “handmade Navajo jewelry” stands (most unattended), the usual collection of gas station, restaurant (and casinos in Cameron) at an intersection here and there. We went to the completely wrong motel but stayed there anyway. Just happy to be anywhere for 2 nights in a row. Oh, and the torrential rain washed the red dust off the car!
