Grand seems not a grand enough word for the Grand Canyon, but it will have to do. the focus and highlight of today was magnificent. The panorama of layers and colors, the perspective of the Colorado River as a thread and the 100 foot cottonwoods as little pinheads was a little difficult to process. In retrospect, both the train ride and the bus tour were not for us. One or the other might have been OK. Instead we felt a bit like trapped animals subjected to others’ schedules and to what others deemed as entertainment. A lesson I hope to have learned – our natures are more free. Little standalone tours may be OK, but in general, we need to run free at our own pace.
